About

Medical Humanities movement advocates literature study and graphic fiction is a form of literature. Graphic Medicine connotes use of comics in medical education and patient care. Graphical depictions offer an engaging, powerful, and accessible method of delivering illness narratives. The potential value of comics in education and student literacy is not a new concept. Educators have been using comics in the classroom for over 60 years. Comics are also being used in medical education and patient care but the numbers of studies are very sparse.

University College of Medical Sciences is the only medical institution in India who’s running a Medical Humanities Group since 2009 and explored various strategies to inculcate humanities among medical students and staff. Comicos-the graphic medicine club, is the brainchild of Dr Satendra Singh and is an attempt to explore the impact of graphic fiction on the lives of medical professionals and patients alike
